What files are needed to provide a labor quote?
Depending on the assembly, we can provide a labor quote with as little as a bill of material, quantity of assemblies needed, and turn-around time required. More complex assemblies will necessarily require more detailed documentation, or a previously assembled sample.
What files are needed for a Printed-Circuit Assembly documentation package?
For a Printed-Circuit Assembly, we require
What is your typical turn-around time?
Our standard turn-around is 2 weeks from the time all components are received in-house. Expedited turn around is available and is used by many of our clients. Depending on the complexity, size, and number of components, same-day turn-around time is possible. Expedited component location, purchasing, and delivery services are also available.
What do you need to quote Printed-Circuit Board fabrication?
At minimum, we would need a complete set of gerber files. For specialized boards, a PCB fab drawing with material, dielectric material, tolerance, and any other related information is required.
Can you do assembly-level or system-level testing?
Yes, depending upon the level of complexity of the test. Typically we work with our clients to establish a test regimen, appropriate test vectors, and pass/fail criterion. Give us a call to discuss further!
Is there a minimum quantity you will build?
No, we'll be happy to build just one assembly as for example, an initial prototype. Often a single unit build is usually part of a larger development effort wherein we can leverage the setup costs to build additional units.
Can you build mechanical assemblies
Yes. We have experience with chassis-level and box-level assembly, as well as more precision electro-mechanical assemblies such as high heat-density systems, or RF/microwave assemblies. Give us a call to discuss your project needs.
What is the size of a typical engineering project for Vareda?
There really is no "typical" engineering project; each one is unique. They range in complexity from comparatively simple electronic design and PC board development (e.g. one engineer for a few weeks) to complete turn-key product development which requires a several-person multi-disciplined engineering staff working together over the course of several months. Vareda is structured to provide the customer with the the expertise and services required for the completion of any sized project.
Can Vareda provide project management services?
Absolutely. A key part of any development effort is effective planning, clear communication, coordination, tracking, & execution to keep cost and delivery schedules on track. Equally important is the ability to anticipate potential issues and identify contingency plans before they become problems. Let Vareda work the details to keep a project moving and give you the time to concentrate on your core competencies.
What documentation services does Vareda provide?
We can work within the customer’s documentation structure or provide any level of documentation required. This includes schematics, BOMs, revision control records, mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, manufacturing documentation, etc. In addition, depending upon the scope of the project, we can provide functional descriptions & specifications, test specifications, test vectors, and any other documentation required to clearly depict and specify the product/assembly of interest.
How does Vareda determine project cost?
This largely depends upon the scope of the project. For straight assembly projects, we will quote based upon parts & labor required. For development projects, we work with the customer to define a set of key milestones & deliverables. Then, for each phase of development, Vareda will provide an updated schedule, a quote for the current phase, and an estimate for the remaining phases. This allows both Vareda and the customer to effectively manage uncertanties in the development process, and to provide the best possible visibility into project budget and schedule.
Do you provide engineering support for transitioning products from prototype to production?
Absolutely! In fact, this is our specialty. Vareda is very well equipped to pick up a project from virtually any stage in the development cycle -- concept, prototype, pilot -- and transition it to volume production.
